Increasing the safety and longevity of battery packs - temperature monitoring at cell level with the TTape™ platform
Li-ion battery packs require thermal monitoring to ensure safe operating conditions are not exceeded and to prevent degradation of the battery cells. Existing temperature sensors, especially conventional NTC thermistors, do not have the necessary fast response time and accuracy for critical applications.
The TTape platform provides the ability to place many measurement points in a multi-cell pack, increasing the spatial resolution of temperature monitoring and simplifying the installation process. The TTape device provides a two-wire interface to detect if any of the cells in a battery pack exceed a critical operating temperature (for example 60°C, 75°C or 85°C).
Curriculum vitae
Marco studied electrical engineering and has a PhD in MEMS. He was Head of R&D in two other sensor companies before joining Littelfuse in 2022. Marco has a long experience in position sensors (especially xMR) and leading R&D and innovation teams - from chip to system level. At Littelfuse he started as innovation manager, leading the EBU advanced development team and introducing a new innovation/idea management process.
In his current role, Marco is responsible for multiple platforms with entirely new products or product features that require additional coordination and guidance both internally and with customers.
