The fiber ceramic fire protection film developed by WPX is only 0.5 mm thick, but protects the battery cover in electric cars from jets of up to 1,200°C, which can escape in the event of a thermal runaway of a lithium-ion battery. This complies with UN standard GTR-20, which gives 5 minutes to leave the vehicle in the event of a battery fire.
