Tutorial: Introduction to the ageing of Li-ion batteries and an innovative method for measuring the state of health (SOH)
As a Li-ion battery ages, it loses capacity and its internal resistance increases. We are investigating various contributions to ageing effects on the anode and cathode side. The growth of the SEI (solid electrolyte interphase) and lithium plating are discussed in detail. Methods for estimating the state of health (SOH) and predicting the SOH are also discussed. We look at the heat generation of a Li-ion battery and how this changes as the battery ages. The influence of ageing on the safety of the battery is also discussed. Finally, an innovative method for determining the SOH is presented.
Expert Talk: Common misconceptions in the industry and the need for battery education
The rapid growth of the Li-ion battery industry has led to widespread application in numerous areas. However, this rapid expansion has also exposed a critical problem: A significant lack of in-depth knowledge and education about Li-ion batteries among engineers and industry professionals. High return rates and frequent safety incidents underscore this problem. In this presentation, we will shed light on common misconceptions and highlight the urgent need for proper education in this area.
