IPG AMB & LDD technology in 46XX series production
The 46XX cells and their rapid implementation and evolution in today's EV landscape are forcing companies to adapt and evolve their mass production strategies for this specific cell type.
This presentation covers the four main topics for improving and maximizing mass production with laser systems and equipment from IPG Photonics. High-speed welding, high yield and spatter-free production processes are required to produce the highest quality products in the shortest possible time. The presentation will focus on four topics of the cell production process, namely welding the collector to the reel, the lid to the reel, the lid to the can and the busbar connection to the terminal, including process monitoring to minimize waste.
Technologies such as AMB laser sources and LDD 100% real-time process monitoring help to bring production to the level required for profitability.
Curriculum vitae
Christopher Poppel began his professional career in 2015 as a technical trainer at TRUMPF Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH + Co KG, where he worked until 2018. In this role, he was responsible for conducting training courses and technical training in the field of 2D laser cutting machines. He developed training programs and materials to comprehensively train both customers and internal employees in the use of the machines.
From 2018 to 2020, Christopher Poppel worked at TRUMPF Werkzeugmaschinen GmbH + Co. KG as a Project Manager in the Digital Learning department. In this position, he managed projects for the digitalization of learning content and used modern e-learning platforms to improve training opportunities for employees and customers.
In 2020, he took over the position of Country Manager for the battery market in China at TRUMPF Laser- und Systemtechnik GmbH. In this role, he was responsible for market development and the expansion of customer relationships in the Chinese battery market. Through his strategic planning and market knowledge, he made a significant contribution to the company's success in this key region.
Since 2022, Christopher Poppel has been Senior Account Manager for System Sales at IPG Laser GmbH & Co. KG since 2022. In this role, he focuses on the sale of laser systems for mass production, particularly in the area of 46XX cells. He supports companies in optimizing their production strategies and relies on technologies such as AMB laser sources and LDD 100% real-time process monitoring to ensure the highest quality and efficiency.
